New Year, Same You, Just with Better Habits

One thing I love about the Built by Boltz program is that it isn’t meant to be binding. You’re meant to learn better nutrition habits and how to maintain them for a lifetime. It’s how you can go to dinner parties, and celebrate big milestones and holidays without guilt. You learn to make “worth it” and “not worth it” choices.

When I went to visit family for the holidays, I ate more cookies and had more espresso martinis and champagne than I’ve had all year. I knew that was going to happen and yeah, I did feel a bit puffy and sluggish in the gym. The important part? I consciously made those choices because something mattered more to me than my performance for a couple of days. Knowing that it made my mom happy to get drinks with me since we live far away and enjoying Christmas cookies with my husband before anyone else got up was a nice moment for us.

The best part? Because I’ve done a LOT of work on my nutrition over the years, I know I’ll get back on track. Fun fact? I was in a bit of a “mood” one morning and craving green juice, which I rarely drink because I’m just not into it. I IMMEDIATELY felt better and my mood did a 180 after getting those micronutrients! It was a nice little reminder to be grateful that I get to feel so good so frequently because I take care of my nutrition.

If you’re carrying some holiday guilt over what you ate or drank, may I suggest laying some of it down and reframing what you can learn from it? What bonding moments did you gain because you chose to live in the moment? Life is so much bigger than hitting your macros perfectly, what the scale says you weigh, or how much you lifted.

Do the next right thing, and let’s make 2024 the year of creating better nutrition practices!
