Rest and Relaxation
In your quest to grow your muscles, you also need to take rest days to relax and unwind. By taking rest days, we give our body time to recover and rebuild our muscle that is damaged in our workouts. When you rest, your muscles rebuild by using the protein that you’ve been eating and bcome stroner so that we can lift more weight. Resting will also prevent injury from pushing too hard too soon. Slow and steady wins the race when it comes to putting on, and maintaining, muscle.
Not only are you taking care of your body, but you’re also taking care of your mind! It’s easy to get burntout in pursuit of a goalm especailly one like muscle growth that takes time and dedication. On your rest days, you can use that time to gently stretch, working through full range of motion drills, journal, meditate, or just do something outside of the gym that makes you happy. Reducing burnout will increase your chance of sticking to your goals and will help you to stay motivated to keep going.
