Vacation Vibes: Fun and Easy Ways to Stay Fit on Your Getaway

Going to the gym may be the last thing on your mind during vacation and a much-needed break can be good for the soul! There are plenty of other ways to stay active that don’t involve the gym and double as time outside as well!

If you didn’t know, there are so many benefits to getting outside including decreased symptoms of anxiety and depression and improved cardiovascular health. Some of my favorite ways to get outside (aside from surfing because it’s flat in SoFlo right now😭) are:

Paddleboarding: or SUP as it’s also known, is a really great way to get a low-impact workout while getting some sun. You can go to the ocean, a lake, or a river depending on where you choose to vacation. You can usually find guided tours, or you can rent your own and ask for directions from the rental place. My husband and I usually pack a little lunch so we can stop at a local island to have food before we go back. If paddleboarding isn’t your speed, you can kayak or canoe!

Hiking: If water sports aren’t your jam, consider going for a hike or taking a walk along a trail! You can pack snacks or a small lunch and make a longer trip out of it if you want to. Don’t forget water and sunscreen!

Bike it Out: I used to love biking around the beach town we went to for the summer. It was a fun way to explore while getting some movement in. Bikes can be transported with you or easily rented for pretty cheap. Some rental properties even include bikes.

It’s all about having fun and moving in a way that YOU like! If you do want to hit the gym or take a yoga class, go for it!
