Diet Culture is for Kooks
Whether you surf or not, you probably know that kook isn’t a positive term. It generally refers to someone who has no idea what they’re doing and is dangerous to themselves and other surfers in the lineup. There are plenty of those kinds of people in the nutrition and fitness industry. Think of people who peddle teas, crash or fad diets, and spread misinformation.
2025 is the year we break up with these kooks. We will not let them trick us into buying products we don’t need that don’t work. We will not let them influence us to fear certain foods based on loose morality codes or ideas of “good” and “bad”.
Instead, we will be so focused on our own nutrition journey we won’t give them a second thought. We will be eating mostly whole foods while leaving room for treats. We will enjoy these treats without guilt or shame. We will eat enough to fuel our bodies while striving to achieve our health, fitness, and life goals. We will learn how to incorporate these foods into a healthy lifestyle to stay balanced.
