Client Stoke: Yogi’s Amazing Progress
Meet Yogi, a client of mine who does both nutrition and programming with me. The best part about Yogi is that he’s open to the process. He communicates with me about how workouts go, how the macros feel, as well as what his struggles and successes are, and it’s been awesome to witness. When I say that I feel truly grateful to work with each and every client, this is what I’m talking about.
As far as nutrition goes, Yogi wanted to feel comfortable in his skin. That meant taking a hard look at his nutrition and making changes. Yogi was dedicated from the get-go. In the first few weeks, he saw a reduction in sugar cravings and an increase in energy. He challenged himself to eat before a 5 AM workout (props, I know that’s hard!) and began to see the number on the scale go down.
As far as programming, Yogi had goals not to die in workouts anymore and hated running. So we ran. I give most clients a test at the beginning so that we have a baseline to work off of. Then we take the results and work towards improving that score. For Yogi, it was a 2-mile run for time. We worked on improving his aerobic capacity through different modalities including longer cardio sessions with a lower heart rate to complement his CrossFit regimen. At the end of the first month, we re-tested the two-mile run, and WOW did he crush it! Yogi shaved off over 2 minutes from his original time, which is a huge accomplishment for one month of work!
We’re working on maintaining and improving upon our gains while changing up his macros a bit to fit his preferred style of eating and lifestyle. I can’t wait to see what this next month will bring. Congratulations on a killer first month, Yogi!
