Built to Surf: A Surf-Fitness Program for Everyone!

One thing I’ve learned doing CrossFit and surfing is that these sports are 10,000 hours sports. You need to put in the practice and the reps BUT you can expedite your progress by assessing your life overall and seeing where you can improve to get closer to where you want to be.

Even when we think we’re advanced the fundamental drills are crucial. If we don’t have those dialed in, we’re kinda screwed.

In the Built to Surf program I’ll be covering:

  • Cardio - make sure you’re ready to paddle past the break and charge for waves.

  • Strength - ensure you’re strong enough to get into the wave. This includes strengthening the muscles used for surfing and in some cases, mimicking the movement patterns we see in surfing.

  • Stretching - surfing requires tons of flexibility to get into your pop-up position. Let’s make sure that you’re as open as possible to catch as many waves as possible.

  • Breath work - be prepared for hold unders by improving your holds and learning calming techniques.

  • Nutrition - hydration and adequate fueling can drastically impact your surf session. Learn how to care for your body pre and post-surf with fun recipes and nutrition tips!
