5 Tips to Get the MOST out of Your Nutrition Consultation

You’ve written the email asking about nutrition consulting and your cursor is hovering over that send button. Thoughts start running through your mind about what it’ll be like: will they ACTUALLY be able to help you? What if they laugh? Are they judging you behind your back?

DEEP BREATHS!

I’m here to give you 5 tips to make the most out of your nutrition consultation.

  1. Be Punctual - We want to make the most of our time together. When you show up on time, it not only tells the coach that you’re serious about your commitment, it shows them that you value your time together. That way we have time to thoroughly go over your goals, the plan of action, and leave time for questions so that you leave the appointment feeling confident. I always give my clients 45 minutes for our consultation and they can always follow up with questions via text, email, or phone call.

  2. Be Honest - Sadly, we aren’t mind readers so we can’t always tell if you’re being upfront or not. The more accurate the information, the better our coaching is going to be. When you’re honest with your goals and your lifestyle, we can create a plan together that allows you to achieve your goals in a realistic and sustainable amount of time. My goal is to make your goals something you can achieve and maintain. I will always give my honest opinion to clients. Which brings me to my next tip.

  3. Have Realistic Expectations - I wholeheartedly believe that that you can achieve anything you set your mind to BUT the body doesn’t always work that way. Everyone is different in terms of their metabolism, likes and dislikes, time to devote to cooking and planning meals, and so many other factors. Sometimes that means that the 90-day goal that you had in mind may look like a 4 or 5-month project. It may be disheartening to hear that but trust me, it’s worth the wait and the effort.

  4. Get a Vibe from the Coach - Vibes don’t lie. If you feel like something is “off” with that coach or you’re just not a good fit, trust your gut. You don’t want to invest the time, money, effort, and emotional labor just to discontinue working with that coach and maybe lose your progress! My approach to each client is based on them and who they are as a person. When you work directly with me, you’re getting individualized programming and nutritional recommendations.

  5. Relax! - We’re here to help you, not judge you! Take a couple of deep breaths and acknowledge that you’re being vulnerable. It’s very scary, especially when it comes to your health goals. A good coach should make you feel as comfortable as possible and should be actively listening to you. As I said before, the more information you give me, the better my recommendations are going to be. If something changes, we’ll adapt as needed, that’s what I’m here for. I want you to fuel your stoke, meaning that I want you to fuel yourself with good food, plenty of water, and exercise so that you’re energized to live life to your fullest potential.
